Welcome to Sarah the Physicicist (d’Blog)

Hello everyone!

Thank you all for bearing with me while I work through the growing pains of going viral on a random Thursday in February. I started my TikTok because I was bored in lockdown, but it’s growing into something entirely different - something I could never have planned for.

Look. I’ll level with you. I really want to make a proper go of this whole “science communication” thing. I cringe at myself saying this, but the fact that thousands of people came across me online and decided they wanted more physics in their lives really excites me. It gives me hope. I have a little bit of space at the moment, so I want to give some time to making educational content online.

There are a few roadblocks. My health has been poor for the last year or so, and that’s ground everything (not just my online stuff) to a screeching halt. I still have a day job (I love scicomm, but she isn’t exactly paying the bills for me just yet). But I will say, things are happening. Things are coming.

So, what can you do?

Well, if you have any ideas for content, sponsorships, collaborations or anything in that vicinity, you can contact me using the form on this website, or via my email (contact@sarahthephysicicist.com). I would really like to hear from you!

I feel super mega awkward saying this, but I have had people ask if they can support me. I set up a ko-fi page here so that you can support if you want (only if you comfortably have the means). I expect absolutely nothing from this, so thank you so so so so much to those who have supported me there. Anything I recieve is going towards my setup for long-form content creation (I’m working on it currently!). Don’t worry at all if it’s not in your budget right now. Just watching my videos helps me loads.

I don’t expect many people to read this, so for you nosy/attentive people who did make it here, I will tell you that I’m currently working on my first Youtube video. It’s about the Photoelectric Effect, and it’s historical context. It was a favourite story of some of my grinds students, so I figured I’d share with the internet. I don’t know when it will come out, because frankly, I don’t know what I’m doing. I’ll get there eventually.

Slán libh!
